The CICC executive director Alexander Ramos mentioned that there are multiple suspicious social media accounts that are marketing SIM registration services for a small fee. The public should avoid these people offering such services. The process of SIM registering is not so complex that people hire paid services for it.

He also warned that such services could be a threat of personal information privacy of the individual getting these services by proving his/her information to the unauthorized service provider. This information could be misused by the third parties for some other purposes.

He mentioned that the procedure for registration of the SIM is very simple and the process should be personally done through a registered mobile subscriber. The process just requires a government-issued ID with a selfie.

“DITO Telecommunity Corporation” is one of the social media pages offering services for registration of SIMs. However, the DITO had disowned that social media page.

SIM Registration Act No. 11934 was signed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on October, 10, 2022. This act is officially effective since December 27, 2022.
