Saudi Police Clearance for Filipinos—Updated Guide 2025

Saudi Police clearance has become very important for overseas workers in Saudi Arabia. If you are an overseas Filipino residing in Saudi Arabia and worried about the police clearance from the Saudi police, relax. In this blog post, we will completely guide you on the procedure of getting police clearance.

  In order to work, study, or immigrate, the Filipinos residing in Saudi Arabia require a police clearance from the Saudi police authorities. These overseas Saudi resident Filipinos faced difficulties in getting the police clearance. In order to facilitate them, the Philippines Consulate in Jeddah has coordinated with Saudi police authorities on this problem. Now, the Saudi Police will issue the police clearance to the Filipinos on the consulate’s endorsement.

The applicants have to apply at the consulate for endorsement.

Advisory: For smooth processing, all the application correspondence with the consulate must have the necessary data, including the applicant’s signature, mobile number, and a recent passport.

Categories of the Applicants

  1. The applicant is currently residing in Saudi Arabia. The consulate will issue the endorsement.
  2. If the applicant is currently not in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the consulate will issue a certificate of “No Derogatory Record.”

For the applicants residing in the Kingdom, there will be two further categories.

  1. Applicants residing in Jeddah/Western Region
  2. Applicants residing outside the Jeddah/Western Region

The requirements and process to apply for the police clearance are slightly different for both types of applicants seeking police clearance through the Philippines consulate at Jeddah, KSA.

CASE  1: For Jeddah/Western Region-based Applicants

The Consulate General will endorse your Police Clearance Application to the Police Director, Jeddah Office.

Your application should have copies of the following documents:

  1. Latest Philippines Passport
  2. Valid Residence Permit/Saudi Iqama
  3. 1x Color Photograph with white background, having a size of 2″x2″
  4. Application Processing Fee of 100 SAR (Saudi Riyal)

After verification, the consulate general will issue an endorsement letter to you. Now you’ve got the endorsement letter, and you are still worried about the next process. We have explained the next steps below in a simple way.

Next Steps after getting the Consulate General’s Endorsement Letter

  1. Visit MOFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) Saudi Arabia along with the original endorsement letter.
  2. The MOFA officials will verify the letter and stamp it for authentication.
  3.    Visit the local police station with a stamped endorsement letter to request the issuance of Saudi police clearance.
  4. After checking the endorsement letter, the local police authorities will have your biometric verification.
  5. After fingerprint biometric verification at the local police station, you will be issued a police clearance.

 Note: The Police Clearance issuance can take a couple of days

  1. After receiving the police clearance certificate from the local police, you need to again visit the MOFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) office again for the final stamping and authentication.
  2. Bring the final clearance certificate to the Saudi Chamber of Commerce accreditation and get it translated into English from Arabic.
  3. Visit the Philippine Consulate General with the final translated police clearance certificate along with a copy for final authentication. Make sure to bring your original passport while visiting the consulate general.
  4. Make the payment of 100 SAR for the final Police Clearance Certificate duly authenticated by the consulate general.

CASE  2: For Applicants not residing in Jeddah/Western Region

The following applicants will submit the application along with all documents required by the Saudi Foreign Ministry under note No. 94/70/19/37270 dated November 03, 2010. The following documents are to be submitted:

  1. An application for the issuance of a police clearance is requested from the consulate, mentioning the purpose. Also include your contact details and e-mail address in the request letter or the application.
  2. Police Clearance is issued by the nearest local police station after biometrics. This clearance must be endorsed by all relevant authorities in the sequence as mentioned below:
  3. Local Police Clearance must be authenticated by the Saudi Embassy and the Philippine Embassy/Consulate General.
  4. If you are in the Philippines, the same must be endorsed by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Manila.
  5. The clearance must be submitted in the original and translated into Arabic by the official translation branch of the Foreign Ministry.
  6. The submitted clearance should also have the final authentication stamp from the Saudi Chamber of Commerce.
  7. Copy of the latest Iqama (Saudi Residence Permit).
  8. Latest Passport Copy.
  9. Two latest 2”x2” size photographs of yours with a white background.
  10. A Special Power of Attorney (SPA) must be submitted in original if you are unable to visit Jeddah and want to nominate an authorized representative on your behalf to present your case for the police clearance at Jeddah. This special power of attorney must be endorsed by the nearest Philippine Embassy/Consulate.

Note: In case you are in the Philippines, the SPA letter must be authenticated by the DFA, Manila.

  1.  Any other supporting documents, if any.
  • The Philippine Consulate General will coordinate with the Saudi Foreign Ministry and get approval through a note verbal.
  • After approval, the authorized representative will visit the police station along with all the documents and get the Saudi police clearance issued for you.

Applicants with an NDR Certificate

 The applicants who can’t comply with all the required documentation of the Foreign Ministry can apply for an NDR certificate at the Philippine Consulate. A Certificate of No Derogatory Record (NDR) will be issued by the consulate; however, such applicants will have to provide copies of the following documents:

  1. Previous passport(s) copies showing entry/exit dates at KSA.
  2. Employment letter during the stay period at Jeddah.
  3. Latest Exit Visa.

ADVISORY for Filipinos travelling to CANADA

 The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa, Canada, issued an advisory that, “As per updated rules and regulations of the Canadian Immigration Office, all the Filipinos above the age of 18 years (including dependents and family) intending to travel to Canada for study or employment must submit a Police Clearance Certificate from the last country of residence or employment where they resided or worked for the last continuous six months.”

Keeping in view the above advisory, the Saudi-based Filipinos intending to travel to Canada must seek the Saudi Police clearance in advance according to the above-mentioned procedure.

Getting the Saudi Police clearance is a time-consuming procedure. However, by following the above guidelines, you can save your time and effort. The Saudi government doesn’t offer online police clearance for foreigners. As the process involves many attestations from different departments, including the Philippine embassy/consulate general, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the translation branch, the Chamber of Commerce, and the local police station.
